Happy New Year!

Life is too short for restraint or glibness or even the drab avoidance of looking goofy.  So here goes:

We love you.
We are deeply grateful for your presence, energy, spirit and support.
You are our whole world.
Blessings for a New Year exactly as you dream it.

Keep the Movement for Equality
Going Strong
!

Human Dignity Coalition has been working to advance and safeguard human rights, dismantle oppression and promote equality for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer community in Central Oregon for more than 19 years. We have made great strides, including organizing for Bend's Equal Rights Ordinance and then statewide equality laws, creating a successful program to support and advocate for for vulnerable LGBTQ and allied youth, initiating and hosting Bend Pride, among many other achievements.

Central Oregon has become a more vibrant, inclusive and just community in our 19 years, but we still have a long way to go.

2012 will be our 20th year!

Can you believe it?

With all of the threats to basic human dignity growing around the world, we need to make sure next year is best year ever!

Please support Human Dignity Coalition's work by making a donation by clicking the "Make a Donation" button above. There is still time to make your tax-deductible donation before the end of the year!

Marriage Equality And HDC In the Source

If you haven’t already, check out this article in the November 10, 2011 Central Oregon Source.  It discusses our Executive Director some, but mostly focuses on the marriage equality issue and Human Dignity Coalition. http://www.tsweekly.com/news/features/onward-upward-meet-the-unlikely-face-of-central-oregons-marriage-equality-movement.html

Marriage Equality Ballot Decision

Also please read below the explanation of Basic Rights Oregon’s decision that the long term goal to win marriage in Oregon is best served by not risking going forward with a ballot measure in 2012.  BRO made this decision after a very thorough process of gathering the best possible information including data, consulting with experts and a statewide advisory group, and voluminous and detailed input from the community.

This does not mean that the marriage equality movement is stopping or even slowing down. To the contrary, we have made tremendous, but not quite enough progress, showing us we need to continue accelerating our efforts to have more of the kinds of conversations that have moved so many thousands of Oregonians to our side in the last few years. http://www.basicrights.org/featured/we-are-committed-to-winning-the-freedom-to-marry/
