Human Dignity Coalition (HDC) Board is responsible for governing the organization and has specific fiduciary responsibilities for which it is accountable. Additional responsibilities include oversight of policy, budgeting, planning, fundraising, human resources, program evaluation and board development. The board meets monthly (and on occasion, more frequently) to pursue the work of the organization and the board.

Meet the Board of Directors
Jamie Bowman, HDC Board President, Jamie is an Oregon native and local activist. She is a single mother of three children, two of which are transgender girls, which is what got her interested in advocacy for the LGBTQQ community. She does panels locally in the community, and for classes at both OSU Cascades, where she is currently a student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science and Communication, and also at COCC, where she graduated from last year with an Associates of Psychology degree. She is an active member of both the COCC LGBTQ and Ally Club as well as the Equal Rights Alliance at OSU Cascades. Her passion is in education and spreading awareness of LGBTQQ kids and has done trainings to help facilitate inclusion in local schools and the community.
Erin Rook, HDC Secretary, Erin is a member of the LGBTQ community who currently works in development for Saving Grace, a Central Oregon nonprofit serving survivors of domestic and sexual violence. A native Oregonian, Erin moved to Bend with his husband in 2013 and has served on the HDC board off and on since then. Erin identifies as queer and uses the pronouns he and him.
Donna Rice, HDC Treasurer, Donna has been a resident in Central Oregon for over 30 years. During this time she has worked as a bookkeeper for small and large businesses, raised 2 sons and has become an award-winning fabric artist. Donna was introduced to and became involved with HDC through her LBGTQ friends and family members. She and her husband have donated time and effort to the Central Oregon Pride celebration for a number of years. In 2014 she was asked to take charge of the financial/bookkeeping duties for HDC and in 2016 became a board member.
Chelsi Thomas, HDC Board Member, Chelsi recently graduated from Oregon State University (Cascades) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Sciences. Including both class work and internships her training offered her the opportunity to work with children and families of diverse backgrounds. A Families in Poverty course provided the valuable experience of tutoring children at the local Boys and Girls Club.
Before coming to HDC in 2012, Chelsi was involved with the local branch of Roots & Shoots, a nationwide organization founded by renowned primatologist and humanitarian Dr. Jane Goodall. This group brings together students who wish to serve their community in any way they can. Chelsi is a bisexual female and uses the pronouns “she” and “her.”
Rob Landis, HDC Board Member, Rob Landis was born and raised in Central Oregon. He graduated from Crook County High School in 2001 as the President of the Student Body. After graduating he attended Linn-Benton community college where he took courses in Horticulture and American Sign Language. His work history includes a myriad of labor industry jobs in addition to managerial and supervisor rolls.
Rob has always had a passion for communicating and interacting with diverse groups of individuals from all different backgrounds. He volunteers every semester to speak on a Transgender panel at COCC for a Human Sexuality class, educating students of transgender issues and his personal transitioning experience. Rob also documents his transitional journey on his YouTube channel to help further educate all who are interested.
Rob started volunteering for the HDC in 2012 assisting with event set-up, ticket sales and promoting through social media and word of mouth. His goal is to broaden the HDC’s Public Relations with our community and promote more involvement and volunteering. Rob is a Transgender male and uses the pronouns he/him.
Greg Delgado, HDC Board Member, Greg moved to Bend over 10 years ago and became involved with Jobs with Justice and CAUSA after seeing first hand the abuses of workers. During his time as a community organizer, Greg has developed extensive relationships with labor unions, the Latino community, and elected officials across the state.
Greg has fought tirelessly on behalf of his community for Drivers Cards, Organizing Hospital Workers, Ban the Box Legislation, A Better Oregon Revenue Campaign, and Protection from Racial Profiling Legislation.
Cliff Cook, HDC Honorary Member, was invited to serve as secretary about a year after HDC was founded in 1992. He was on the Board when HDC opened its first office and hired its first Executive Director. He returns to the Board to offer his planning experience, attention to detail and enviable people skills. He is the founding President of both the Willamette Valley Council for the Social Studies and the Oregon Council for the Social Studies. A retired high school teacher, Cliff also worked in hotel administration for almost ten years.LGBTQ affiliations: Equity Foundation Board member for four years, current PFLAG Central Oregon Board member, and a founding member of Stars and Rainbows. Cliff is a gay man and he uses the pronoun “he” and “him.”
